I'm calling because as a Jew and[/or] as a friend of Israel, I am very concerned about Israel's recently announced plans to deport African asylum seekers to Rwanda. I know that many of these people are survivors of genocide in Darfur or persecution in Eritrea, and I know that they may be at risk if deported, and this would go against Israel's obligations as a Jewish and democratic state. I know that there are better ways of dealing with this challenge, and I hope that our [Jewish] community can help Israel in addressing this issue. So I'm asking you, please, don't deport refugees.
